This time next week myself and Simon VK2PWR will be heading for Mt Ginini in VK1. We will be meeting up with Jack VK2TRF and Gary VK2UNI so we can have some fun in the GHz parts of the spectrum. Jack and Gary will be attempting to make some wideband ATV links to Dan VK2GG and Dave VK2TDN plus a few others on 23cm, 13cm, 6cm, 3cm and 1.25cm. The 1.25cm (24GHz) will be attempted from a peak closer to Boorowa. In between them playing wideband atv Simon and I will be attempting 23cm FM to Dan and Dave and data over wifi on 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz to some of the other guys from http://www.bathurstwireless.org - Phill and Zac. Fingers crossed we will be successful with our attempts as this is quite a long haul - especially for wifi and wideband atv. If our data link works we will be posting more info about throughput and what we actually tried over the link. At the moment we are thinking of some form of VOIP, Webcam via netmeeting or similar, FTP file transfers and probably something like IRC. This will be more significant if we are able to link up using different antennas and can then make comparisons :) Successful or not I am sure we will have quite a good time and I am very much looking forward to it. I will post some pics on the site after the event. Cheers for now. Bob |
